BBMF 2026 Display Season Highlights

The 2026 BBMF season is expected to follow a commemorative and ceremonial focus, supporting national events, military anniversaries, and major UK airshows with historic RAF aircraft including the Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane, and Dakota.

The season traditionally begins in May with early flypasts linked to VE Day commemorations, local ceremonial events, and selected heritage airfield appearances such as Shuttleworth and other historic aviation sites.

In June, BBMF aircraft are typically active across major national observances including the King’s Birthday Flypast over London, Armed Forces Day events across the UK, and selected appearances at flagship airshows such as RAF Cosford.

July and August represent the peak display period, with BBMF aircraft commonly featuring at major UK airshows including IWM Duxford Summer events, Eastbourne Airshow, Clacton Airshow, and regional seaside air displays. The Lancaster bomber is often the centrepiece of these appearances.

September continues with a strong heritage and remembrance focus, including Battle of Britain commemorations, Duxford’s Battle of Britain Air Show, and various RAF station events across the UK. This period often includes some of the most significant BBMF flypasts of the year.

The season typically winds down in late September and October with final commemorative sorties, training maintenance cycles, and end-of-season appearances such as Duxford Flying Finale or RAF heritage events, depending on aircraft serviceability.

All BBMF participation remains strictly subject to aircraft serviceability, maintenance schedules, weather conditions, and RAF operational requirements.
